Alice D. Kramer passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, strength, and service that touched the lives of everyone she encountered.
Craig and Alice’s love story began in November of 1976 when they met while serving in the United States Air Force. After only three days of knowing each other, they became engaged, beginning a journey of love and partnership that lasted for 47 years.
Alice was a loving wife and mother who devoted herself to raising her children, Kirsten and Shawn, before focusing on her life’s dream of becoming a counselor. Her unwavering commitment to her family later led her to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Mental Health and Human Services from the University of Maine at Augusta, which she completed on May 10, 2003.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 47 years, Craig Kramer; daughter, Kirsten Cowing (Tony Cowing, son-in-law); son, Shawn Kramer (Sherrie Kramer, daughter-in-law); and her cherished grandchildren, Austin, Briana, Nolan, Luke, Jesse, Isabel, Andra, Ethan, and Isac, who affectionately called her “Meme.” Alice is also remembered by her loving sisters, Lynn (brother-in-law Ron) and Jennie (brother-in-law George), as well as her brother-in-law Chris Kramer (sister-in-law Debra) and sister-in-law Rena Munoz (brother-in-law Juan). Alice was the second of four children and was the daughter of the late Hubert and Nancy Rawls.
Alice grew up in a family that moved frequently due to her father’s role in the United States Air Force and Secret Service, giving her a unique global perspective on life. She served her country as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force from 1975 to 1979, primarily stationed at the USAF Hospital/Medical Center at Williams AFB.
Her passion for helping others led her to serve wounded soldiers at the VA Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, where she cared for them with love and dedication. She often said that she carried the soldiers she cared for in her heart forever.
In 2003, led by her faith in God, Alice took another step in her mission of service by founding a ministry called “Tapestry of Hope,” which provided free services to women in need. Through this ministry, Alice aimed to restore hope to those whose lives had been shattered by unspeakable circumstances, much like her own.
Alice was also deeply committed to fighting against sexual abuse and sex trafficking. In honor of Alice’s legacy and passion for this cause, the family requests that donations be made to “Project Justice” in her name. Please donate at [ppcog.churchcenter.com].
Alice’s life was a testament to resilience, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to making the world a better place. Her warmth, empathy, and tireless efforts to heal and uplift those around her will never be forgotten.
As Alice is watching over us, she wants you all to know, "I love you bigger, and I’m here with you to stay."
A memorial service will be held in her honor at Palmetto Pointe Church, 2901 Fantasy Way, Myrtle Beach, SC 29579, on April 5th at 11:00 AM. An additional service will be held this summer in Maine. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Alice’s extraordinary life.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to. https://ppcog.churchcenter.com/giving/to/missions-jonny-moore
