Barbara L. Besanson

Barbara Jean Lee Besanson, age 79, of Little River, South Carolina passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2023. Born on December 8, 1943 in Johnston County, North Carolina. She was a daughter of the late Hiram Lee and Mildred Smith Lee.

She was preceded in death by her parents, along with her husband, Kay Besanson; brothers, James Russell Lee, Robert Harold Lee; and nephew, Gene Alexander Justice.

Survivors include her three sisters, Helen Lee Ellis of Wilson, NC, Margaret Ann Suggs of Dunn, NC, Joyce Lee White of Little River, SC; step-sons, Mark Besanson (Cheryl), Patrick Besanson (Angela); brother-in-law, Karis Besanson; niece, Tara Lee Justice-Ling (Jimmy); nephews, Byron Suggs (Beth), Harold Lee (Jennifer); great-nephews, Malo Justice, Liam Justice; special friends, Rex Polser, Chad and Summer Ayres, along with their two daughters, Abby and Cassy.

Barbara lived in the Landfall Community for several years in Wilmington, NC, before relocating to Little River to join her sister, Joyce. She made several lifelong friends during her time in Wilmington. Barbara enjoyed decorating, shopping and tending to her beautiful flowers and plants.

A private gathering will be held by the family. Memorials may be made to an organization of one’s choice.
