

Barbara was born in Waterbury, CT on April 21,1943 to the parents of Marvin and Ruth Sterry, and grew up in Southington, CT with her two younger sisters, Carole and Valerie. Together the family enjoyed boating on the Connecticut shore.
Barbara graduated from Southington High School in 1961, where she had a tight circle of friends. They were lighthearted, and used to visit Hampton Beach. Barbara was a member of the bowling club, intramural sports and participated in the senior play and talent show.
Barbara and Wally met each other through mutual friends and quickly fell in love. They were married on November 21, 1967, and lived in East Hartford, CT, where they had their two children, Dawn and Sean. Barbara was a devoted and loving wife and mother. She was a stay-at-home Mom and always packed her children's lunch bags with a sweet little note like "Have a nice day, Love Mom" and a cute smiley face. Barbara always had a home cooked dinner ready on the table every night and made the best goulash, Turkey Tettrazini, spaghetti sauce and Famous Chocolate Wafer Cake. Oh, and banana cream pie, her son's favorite.
She very much enjoyed her trips to visit Dawn in Bermuda and Puerto Vallarta as well as her boat trips with Sean to Napatree, Block Island, 3 Mile Harbor, Greenport and Montauk.
Barbara was a determined woman, getting her motorcycle license so that she and Wally could ride together. They went to many Americades in Lake George, NY and HOG rallies on the east coast, where they enjoyed spending time with their close motorcycle friends. Also the New England Moto Guzzi Club was a big part of their lives. She also learned to shoot guns and went to the range together with Wally. When the children were old enough, she worked as a bookkeeper while attending Manchester Community College, where she earned her degree in accounting. She worked for several years at Tyco Engineered Systems and very much enjoyed working with Mark Alliod, CPA and his team.
Barbara was an avid reader and had a library of her own. She had countless talents and hobbies. She played the piano, gardened, knitted, cross-stitched, quilted, macrame, embroidery, calligraphy, painting and more, and was also a master with the sewing machine. Barbara's most recent favorite activity was Zumba, where she was a member of Irene's Tribe. This was a big part of her life. She also enjoyed Martha's Ladies Lunch Bunch.
Barbara loved cats, birds and flowers. She loved the season changes. She loved her family and friends, and her children's friends. She created countless memories for everyone that will be cherished forever.
She leaves behind her husband, Wallace MacDonough; their children, Dawn Wreford and husband Stan, and Sean MacDonough his girlfriend Cheryl her grandson Tony Pucino and his wife Kelsi; her sisters Carole Herbin and Valerie Andrukiewicz, and their families; brothers and sisters-in-law Bill and Lynn MacDonough and Doreen and Bernie Trumbull and their families; her nieces and nephews and their families: Betsy Herbin-Triant and Bill Triant, Ralph Pastor, Caroline and Jay Adamski, Benjamin Andrukiewicz and Lauren Finnie, Lance and Jessica Decker, Catherine Decker, Billy MacDonough, Jason and Kacie MacDonough, Donna and Peter Katz, Lori and Earl Benway, Becca and Keith Haessig, Ryan and Amy MacDonough, and Meghan MacDonough. Barbara was predeceased by brother and sister in-laws David MacDonough and Linda Earley.
Celebrations of life will be planned next summer.
