I know I am a little late at this but just found out . I was lying in bed last night and thought about all you done for me as a homeless kid . Now here I am at 4 a.m.writing this and crying for the the loss of a GREAT MAN . I wanted to send my thoughts and condolences to you. Mrs. Bishop .  Thanks for all your family done for me . I do in a heartfelt way say thank you Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bishop ..  I  love you for it . Looks like we made it !!!   Vencient Leagon 

Me and Ed were saddened to hear this. We enjoyed seeing the two of you at class reunions. Charlie is gone but will forever be remembered in our hearts and never forgotten. We love you know that we are here for you anytime. 

I was heart  broken to hear this. I will forever have good memories of Charlie in my heart and mind. He was such a great man. 

To the Bishop Family -
I am sorry for your loss. Charlie truly was a good coach and an even better friend. God Bless and keep you all. 

It is so hard to lose a sibling . He came a long way from those days back in Beaufort County and “little Washington “ . Charlie was a huge sports legend at Washington High School back in the early fifties . I never went to any of his games , but I can remember  seeing newspaper clippings proclaiming him as “Crazy Legs Bishop “ . He had to be one of the first athletes from the area to get a full-ride scholarship to a major college . That was fortunate for him because there is no way  our family could have supported him in college .

My other enduring childhood memory is when he took me and my younger brother with him to the local dance hall . As you can imagine , he was the center of attention doing the jitterbug and other fancy dance steps . I guess you could say that it was prepping him for his later “shagging” prowess ! 

Farewell, bro . You will never be forgotten either by me or the thousands of other people whose lives you touched .

Charlie helped me get started in coaching back in '72 at Pinecrest.
He was a great coach and friend over the years. What a career he had. Thanks for the memories! Eternal Rest Grant To Him, O Lord.

HHS Class of 1965, dedicated the CHOO CHOO annual to a dedicated Man. A Man dedicated to Sports. A Man dedicated to Physical Education. A Man dedicated to Coaching. A Man dedicated to Youth. A Man dedicated to Hamlet High School.
I ran Track on team known as the “ Bishop’s Barefoot Brigade”. 
Three items Coach carried: a clipboard in his right hand; a stop watch in his left hand; a whistle around his neck.
How will we Remember Coach❓ It’s how we remember in ours Hearts he treated us as Human Beings , to Laugh and Enjoy the Game!

Charles "Charlie" Bishop '59
Charles “Charlie” Bishop of North Myrtle Beach, SC, now retired, was a dedicated teacher and coach in the North Carolina school system for 35 years. During Bishop’s career he coached track, cross country, basketball and football and had an overall record of 1,664 wins and 125 losses. Bishop received 46 awards as Coach of the Year and was twice named National High School Coach of the year in 1977 and 1987. 

We go back a long way Coach. The good ol’ Pembroke days. I would never have imagined we would cross paths again here at the beach. You have left a legacy that many will never forget.  A truly dedicated man to so many children, college students, and adults. RIP my friend. My thoughts and prayers are with the Bishop family during the difficult time.

To the Bishop Family from Willie and  Wanda LeGrande Knoxville Tn, we are all in your prayers, sorry for your lost.

To the family of Coach Charlie Bishop. 
Although it may be difficult today to see or feel beyond your sorrow; I pray that tomorrow, as you look back in memory of where a beautiful and fun loving soul has been, you will forever remember his trail of wonderful memories.

Man Coach B. What a blast to be around you. Always with an encouraging word. From Hamlet to Pembroke to Pinecrest, you never changed. You will always be in my memories.

I am so sorry for your loss. ‘The Coach’ was a man for all seasons.    I pray for the hope found in trusting in Christ and His great love.  Every death calls for an explanation. Even if we had answers, it would not remove the hurt or resolve the loss in our hearts.
