Christy Dowless, age 37, of Sunset Beach, North Carolina passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2022. Born on July 29, 1984 in Whiteville, North Carolina she was the daughter of Terri Lynn Gainey and the late Kenneth Dowless.
Truly a princess, Christy had a smile capable of lighting up any room. She was a devoted member of Grace Christian Fellowship Church. She enjoyed singing in the choir and attending church whether it was in person or online. Christy loved online gaming, her new swimming pool, her dog Faith and most importantly her family. She especially adored her brother Nicholas, who referred to her as his “Gurtie Gurton”.
Christy survived by her loving mother, Terri Lynn Gainey; step-father, John Gainey; brother, Nicholas Dowless; uncles, James Bryan (Kay), Tony Bryan (Richard), Ronnie (Donna) Gainey; cousins, Brandie (Nate), Paula, Matthew, McKenzie (C.J.), Bruce, Ginger; great-aunt Doris; and great-uncle Don. She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Dowless; grandmother, Susan Joyce (Campbell) Jackson; grandmother, Maxine Butler Bryan; grandfather, Theford Bryan.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Grace Christian Fellowship Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
