

Curtis Wood Coleman Jr., aged 98, passed away on December 26, 2025, with his loving family by his side. He resided in North Myrtle Beach, SC with his daughter Sherry Taylor and son-in-law Jim Taylor. Born in Lynchburg, Virginia, in June 1927 to Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Coleman, Curtis was the eldest of seven children.
A World War II veteran, Curtis proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. Following his military service, he joined the Merchant Marines, where he was able to travel the world, something he cherished deeply. Upon his return to Virginia, he married his beautiful wife, Emma Lee, and they were blessed with their daughter, Sherry.
Curtis worked at Westover Dairy before becoming a paint contractor, a profession he enjoyed until his retirement. He had a passion for dancing, riding his motorcycle, spending time on the beach, and boating with friends and family. Curtis was compassionate, well-loved and kind-hearted. Everyone who knew him loved him.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Curtis’s wonderful caregivers, Judy, Layne, Michille, Jonalyn, Nancy, and Kerstin, as well as the staff at Embrace Hospice House for their dedicated care.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
