Cynthia Louise Schmitz

Cynthia L. Schmitz, age 74, of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2025. Born in Canandaigua, New York, on April 29, 1950, she was the daughter of the late James and Alice Van Troost.

Survivors include sister, Mary Ellen Darling (Richard); brothers James Van Troost (Susan), David Van Troost; sister-in-law Ann Heffernan; brother-in-law, Steve Schmitz (Susan); along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nephew and several minty friends. Cynthia was preceded in death by her husband Gerald, her parents, and her cats, Digger and Barney.

Cynthia and Gerald became South Carolina residents in 2010 after 30 years of vacationing in North Myrtle Beach. The two moved from Rochester, New York where Cynthia worked as a Software Engineer for Kraft General Foods. Cynthia loved soaking up rays on the beach, reading, gardening and having a good time. Cynthia will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Myrtle Beach Humane Society.

A graveside service for Cynthia will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at North Myrtle Beach Memorial Gardens.
