

He was born April 5, 1936 in the Bronx to the late John and Mary (Nolan) Lynch. Donald graduated St. Anthony’s High School in Smithtown, Long Island, and received his B.A. in History at St. Francis College in Brooklyn (‘61). Donald then received his MA in Education from NYU (‘64). He went on to receive his permanent certification in Administration and Supervision.
Donald spent his early adulthood as a Franciscan Brother teaching and traveling the world. After leaving religious life and starting a family, he continued teaching and traveling. Donald happily retired (after 50+ years of teaching) to South Carolina with Pat in 2005.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Patricia Connolly Lynch; daughter Maureen (James) Splonskowski of Colonie, NY; son Kevin ( fiancé Rachele Vogel) of Long Beach, NY.; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was the beloved Poppi of Brendan, Sean, and Elizabeth Splonskowski. Donald was also preceded in death by his brother John, and sisters Catherine Bristoll and Mary Erlanger.
Visitation will be held at Our Lady Star of the Sea, Little River on Tuesday May 10, 2022 at 10am with a Mass and Celebration of Life to immediately follow at 11am.
