

Donald J. Stanley, 95, of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina passed away on February 5, 2022. He was a proud veteran of World War II. Born in Milton, Massachusetts on September 6, 1926, he was a son of the late William and Catherine Stanley. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Beth McIntosh Stanley; his son, Donald Scott Stanley; two brothers; and three sisters. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Stanley Buchanan (Michael).
Shortly after he married the love of his life, Beth McIntosh, in 1954, the two settled in Roanoke, Virginia. Here he began his career working for Combined Insurance. Later he became the sales manager for WFIR/WDBJ radio station. This experience led him to eventually use the combined talents of him and his wife in opening their own advertising agency, Advertising Consultants, Inc. where they enjoyed working side by side.
Donald was a founding member of JDRF of Roanoke, where he served as past president. He was also a member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church. He went on to join many great clubs and associations such as the Roanoke Chamber of Commerce and The Squires just to name a few! An avid golfer, he was a long-time member of Hidden Valley Country Club and Roanoke Country Club.
Upon retirement, he and Beth moved to North Myrtle Beach where he was a member of the American Legion Post 186, The Knights of Columbus and Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Here he continued enjoying golf and was in stiff competition with family members for most holes in one. Don loved to travel and he and Beth made many wonderful memories around the world and in the US.
Donald had many stories to share, having lived life to its fullest. He exits this world having experienced an extraordinary rich and vibrant life.

A funeral mass will be held at noon on Friday, February 11, 2022 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Lee Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family.
