Marion "Mickey" Turner

Marion “Mickey” Odell Turner of Sunset Beach, NC, peacefully passed through the gates of Heaven on July 27, 2025. Born in Marion County, SC to John Henry and Jennie Turner, he grew up on a tobacco farm with his nine siblings. He attended Clemson University on a baseball scholarship and graduated from Johns Hopkins University. He served our country in the US Navy on the USS Long Beach (the first nuclear cruiser).

His career began with Westinghouse Corp (36 years) where he served in several managerial positions. He transferred to Eaton Corp (Cutler Hammer) while living in Ontario, Canada and completed his career as VP and General Manager for Shaw Industries (Mark Products) in Houston, TX.

Mickey was a passionate follower of Jesus Christ and a very active member of Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church (ODPC) in North Myrtle Beach, SC, serving as deacon, elder, and Sunday school teacher. He loved to play golf, snow ski with his family, read, swim in the ocean, and ride his bike and loved doing it all with his family, especially with his grandkids – his family was his pride and joy!

He is survived by his wife Nancy of 49 years; his son Marty (LeAnne) Turner); daughter Nicole (Grant) Jancsics; and his five beautiful grandchildren: Jake, Emma & Ella Jancsics and Donovan & Morgan Turner. Also surviving are his siblings Jenny Clemons, James (Dianne) Turner, Wayne (Kathy) Turner, Robert (Cathy) Turner, sister-in-law Gail Turner, and Nancy’s sisters, spouses and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would also like to thank DaVita Dialysis (Longs) and the many loving caregivers that helped at home. He was loved by all that knew him and will be greatly missed.

A memorial service is scheduled at Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church for Friday, August 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. There will be a reception following the service.

In lieu of flower, the family requests donations to OD Presbyterian Church, St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Samaritan’s Purse.
