June 10, 1932 – September 5, 2025
Nancy McCarthy Falcinelli, 93, of Little River, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family. Born on June 10, 1932, in Greenwich, Connecticut, she was the daughter of Thomas Francis and Helen Lindsay McCarthy and the sister of David McCarthy.
Nancy grew up in Connecticut and graduated from Ridgefield High School, where she met Renzo, the love of her life. Their life together, rooted in faith and devotion, was the foundation of 71 years of marriage filled with joy, laughter, and love.
Nancy earned her degree from Danbury State Teachers College and later her Master’s in Education from the University of Connecticut. A gifted and dedicated educator, she was recognized by her peers as “Most Outstanding Teacher,” a nod to her skill as a teacher and her compassion for her students.
Together with Renzo they raised four children, guiding them with wisdom, patience, and humor. She loved her family above all else and instilled in them the values of loyalty, kindness, and integrity.
A lifelong New York Yankees fan, Nancy rarely missed a game and amazed friends and family with her encyclopedic knowledge of baseball statistics. Cheering for her Yankees was one of her greatest joys.
In retirement, Nancy found peace and happiness first in the quiet beauty of the Vermont mountains and then in the warm sunshine of South Carolina’s beaches. She and Renzo also traveled extensively with her brother David and his wife Mary. She treasured simple pleasures-family gatherings, babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, watching baseball, and playing bridge.
Nancy was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach for many years. She also gave generously of her time, volunteering in the Vermont elementary schools and later teaching English as a Second Language in Myrtle Beach.
Those who knew Nancy will remember her quick wit, steadfast loyalty, and unwavering spirit. She lived her life with grace, strength, faith, and love, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband, Renzo; her children Linda Perkins (Steve), Mike Falcinelli (Deb), Net Falcinelli, and Rick Falcinelli (Mary Ellen); her grandchildren Travis, Jessica, Jamie, Eliza, and Hannah; and her great-grandchildren Sadie, Timmy, Gina, Jake, and Juliet.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the McLeod Hospice team, especially her beloved nurse Mishellie, and to Hope, Jayla, Natalie, and Pam, for their compassionate care and kindness during Nancy’s final days.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach, 3810 Robert M. Grissom Parkway, Myrtle Beach, SC.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Nancy’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach Youth Programs, or the McLeod Hospice Butterfly Fund.
