Susan, 
My heart breaks for you. I'm so very sorry for your loss. I can still remember when you and Neil  got together. I always thought y'all were the perfect couple and then when you two came to the river for mine and Bud's wedding. Time has passed too quickly! 

Working together with Neil at Hardee's was a special honor. He was such a sweet, kind and respectful human being and it's a loss to this world that can't be filled by another. 

It is my prayer that God wrap His loving arms around you and the family to give you the comfort and peace you need during this difficult time. Keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.

Neil was always happy to help educate this rookie Hardee’s franchisee on the finer points of data analysis. He was patient, welcoming and helpful. I’m certain he impacted many and helped with their success without fanfare. RIP my friend. God Bless.

Chuck and I were shocked to learn of Neil’s passing. We send love and condolences. Chuck has many fond memories of working with Neil  in the marketing department at Hardee’s and their many 3 hour lunches (when retired) at Brian’s in RM.

Neil was always a gentlemen, kind, humble, trustworthy and respectful. When he shared his consumer insights, we all listened.
Hardee's enjoyed success because of his leadership and focus
on our customers.  I enjoyed visiting with Neil at the RM YMCA when he returned home for family visits.  He was always 
uplifting with his thoughts and sincerely interested in your life. 
A life well-lived, he made the world a better place.  God speed my friend.  

Met Neil at the  "Y" playing racquetball.   We became good friends.   I so enjoyed his company.   I moved to Idaho in 2003.  He even flew out to visit.  I felt honored.  We had many beers together.  Rest easy my friend.   You had a good one Susan. 

Dear Susan (and Neil… I know you’re reading this)… I will always, always remember our times together, and all the laughs that we shared.  You were one-of-kind… always so “cool” with everything in the business world.  You had a “quiet coolness”.  I was never sure if there were bigger rumblings inside that you didn’t show.  You took everything in stride, and always had a good sense of humor (with a little darker shade to it)… which made it fun for me to laugh with you.  I’m sure that you made it to heaven because you were a “real good guy” down deep.  I’m going to miss you. All my best to Susan, and the family…I am so sorry for your loss. Rich Grinchunas 

Although we were both "Newbies" to the Tidewater Neighborhood, it didn't take long for our friendship to grow.  After all,  Neil had the best Man Cave ever and we all benefitted from a spirited beverage and a challenging game of pool.  One night in particular, lead several couples for a neighborhood stroll. We stopped at one another's house to share a specially selected beverage from a book that Neil owned.  The night proved to be a very special night, with lots of laughs,  a strong feeling of camaraderie, but most of the friendships that were made will bond us together.  Thank you Neil, for always being a gentleman with a warm kind soul and a open heart to all that you met.

Hardee's was extremely fortunate to have had Neil as an employee, and he as my colleague. He saved my b-tt many times with his clear, candid, intelligent and insightful analysis of many tricky considerations for decision.  You could always depend on him for clarity, humor and brevity. He was indeed "one of the good guys" as previously stated.  Yes Neil...please RIP....and know that the living memory of you is Gold Star quality. It was joy to know you. 

Jane and I are deeply saddened by the news of Neil’s passing. Our condolences are with Susan and all the family. 
We are grateful for so many memories of Neil at work and while running many miles together. Neil’s sense of humor in any situation was always appropriate and appreciated. I always admired his ability to separate work and leisure.  I will always cherish our times together and will think of him often. I can say with heartfelt sincerity that he was one of the ‘good guys’ and there will never be another Neil.

I worked with Neil at Hardee's for many  years and was fortunate to call him both friend and mentor.   During 9 years of working together in marketing research, he encouraged me, taught me, challenged me, and supported me.   We shared many laughs and I always enjoyed his quick wit and wry sense of humor.   He was a truly special guy and I am honored to have called him friend.  Prayers for Susan and all of his loved ones - he will be sorely missed.   


Very sorry to hear of Neil’s passing. We played tennis for many years at Sea Trail tennis courts. He was a gentlemen and I was glad and fortunate to have known him even if it was only a short period. I thought I was fast for my age but Neil always outran me on the course. Will sadly miss his presence on the tennis courts. God bless him and his family.

Neil and I shared our passion for running when we both lived in Winston-Salem, NC.  Even after he moved to Rocky Mount we would run on weekends and ran our first marathon in New York. 
My prayers go out to Susan and the family. 

Neil was a great guy; smart, hard working, witty, and respectful. Really pleased to have had him as a friend. Also thankful for the opportunity to have teamed up and accomplished a lot together with our team during our post Hardee’s initiatives into the world of NC sweet-potatoes.  Condolences to Susan and the entire family. 

Neil and I played Tennis,Pickleball,and Golf together and we became good friends and would go out couples.I can’t believe my good friend is gone.Neil was a class act and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.My prayers and heart go to Susan and all the family.🙏❤️🙏
