Richard Burton Wilder, 78, died February 10, 2020 at his home.
Born on July 8, 1941 in Norfolk, VA, he was the son of the late David B. and Marvel Spivey Wilder.
Richard was a Tarheel, through and through, graduating from UNC and earning his degree in pharmacy. He resided in Chadbourn, NC, where he had his first pharmacy with the very first drive in window in the sixties. He was employed part time by two golf courses, Shafsbury Glen and Sandpiper, where he was respected and a true friend. Close childhood friends, Joe Nance and his cousin Major General Chris Spivey, were his confidants and shared many wonderful times growing up. They will always miss Richard. He leaves a big hole in our hearts. Richard never met a stranger, always had a big smile and loved to laugh. He was loved by everyone.
Mr. Wilder is survived by his wife, Genevieve “Genny” Becht Wilder; three sons, Richard (Harriett), Shane (Vickie), Chad (Cindy); six step children; one brother, Marcus; six grandchildren, Trey, Ben, Jamie, Hunter, Chase, Mack; 12 step grandchildren; and one step great granddaughter. He is predeceased by one brother, David.
