Born on October 23, 1955 in Washington, DC, Russ was the son of the late Joseph and Agnes Huppmann. He was preceded in death by his daughter Christine Marie. He was the devoted and loving husband of Patricia “Patty” Foster Huppmann. They were high school sweethearts who married in Southern Maryland 51 years ago.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Patty, is his daughter, Donnell George; grandchildren, Christopher, Brianna, Lauren, Andrew, Brooklyn, Jaxon; great-grandchildren, Joslynn, CeCe, Maverick and Millie. Russell had five siblings. He was preceded in death by his older brothers Nick Nicholson and Bob Huppmann. He is survived by brothers Mike Huppmann, Joe Huppmann and beloved sister Susie Dewitt.
“Rusty” was a union carpenter in Washington DC in the 1970's and worked for the National Zoo in the 80’s. He moved his family to West Virginia in 1988 where he built homes and cabins. In 1997 he moved to North Myrtle Beach where he continued his work building homes (Cherry Grove Construction) in Little River, Longs in various subdivisions....River Hills, Bellacroft, Colonial Charters, Plantation Pines, Patriot point and did remodeling all over Horry County. Rusty always did right by people and his work was impeccable. He built beautiful homes for families to grow and love in. He took pride in his work and his family was proud of him.
Russ was a member of Living Water Baptist Church where you would always find him helping others. He was devoted to serving people. A truly selfless man. He was a dedicated family man. Russ loved to travel and make memories with his grandchildren. He was so proud of them and would tell everyone about how special they were. He was a Washington Redskins fan and enjoyed football Sundays with his family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Living Water Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service and also immediately following the service at the church.
