It is with deep sorrow that we announce that Ryan David Redmond, 43, passed peacefully in his sleep at home in Little River, SC, on Sunday, July 13, 2025. Ryan was born September 17, 1981, in San Diego, CA, and loved being endearingly called “The California Kid”.
Ryan leaves behind his loving mother, Mary Beth Witchie (Tommy George), his brother and best friend, Anthony Guarino, bonus brothers Tim and Brad George, and his former wife, Mina. He is also survived by so many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.
Ryan found great joy and satisfaction in his work helping others. Starting right after high school caring for his autistic cousin, Patrick, to elder care at “Stay-at-Home” in Frederick where he spent most of his life. The care and support he most recently gave to those also struggling as he had, at Shepard Pratt and New Life Retreat in Louisiana, enabled him to share the gifts he learned in life. His prior profession for many years with Men’s Wearhouse promoted his deep care through his salesmanship and artistic talent for “Suiting Up” those desperate customers in need of finding the perfect fitting attire for their special occasion. Ryan, himself, found great pride and pleasure in often being the best dressed man at just about any event (even cookouts). He had more suits than any man our family knows!
A man of diverse talents and passions, Ryan also found joy in the simple things. He was an avid reader, often lost in the pages of a good book. His adventurous spirit came alive on rollerblades and games of street hockey, which he coached for younger enthusiasts, including his brother, Anthony. He loved camping, kayaking and “floats” down rivers with his friends, and fishing in streams, rivers, lakes or any peaceful water he could get to. As a talented artist, he has created many cherished works that anyone would be proud to display. Ryan also enjoyed the camaraderie of a good poker game, and the self-taught creative outlet of playing a variety of his guitars. He had a particular love for food and cooking, especially with spicy peppers and seafood like steamed, spiced Maryland blue crabs or fresh oysters on the half shell.
Above all, Ryan was known for his kind and gentle spirit, especially when it came to animals. His cats, Mr. Furley and Boots were his cherished companions, and over the years, he provided a loving home to many other little friends like turtles, rabbits, and even a chinchilla. His compassion for children, and all creatures great and small was a testament to his big heart.
Ryan will be remembered for his quiet strength, his warm smile, and his unwavering kindness, loyalty and devoted love especially to his great big family. He touched many lives and will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him.
