Frances Wolf Friedman (aka Frances Wolf Newman) died peacefully on May 9, 2020. Born June 14, 1940 in Fort Worth, Texas, she was raised in Shreveport, Louisiana. She is predeceased by her parents, Tobian and Ann (Katz) Wolf, and her brother Gerald.
A graduate of Sophie Newcomb College of Tulane University, she received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and went on to serve as a film production office coordinator for Four Star Studios, Columbia Pictures, Paramount Pictures, and Metro Goldwyn Mayer, working with talent including Barbara Streisand and Burt Reynolds. She later became Director of Volunteers followed by Finance Director for Congressman Bill Green (NY). She also served as the National Director for Modrnpac, a progressive Republican political action committee. After moving to Short Hills, NJ, she co-founded the Essex County Coalition of Domestic Violence Providers, became a Trustee of both the Millburn-Short Hills Republican Club and Family Connections and was a candidate for Essex County Freeholder-at-large.
Frances is survived by her husband, Dr. Frederick Friedman, Sr.; children Peter and Hope Newman; step-children Danielle, David (Lana), Dr. Frederick Friedman Jr., Dr. Douglas Friedman (Fidelia), Marian Trano, and Jill Porat, as well as 12 grandchildren. She will be sorely missed. GOD BLESS her soul.
