George F. Waas, 88, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 with his loving family by his side. Born in Orange, NJ, George was a life-long resident of West Orange. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII where he was a POW in Germany. George was the Commander of the American Legion Post # 22, as well as an Eagle Scout and Scout Master. He loved traveling, hunting, and fishing, but most of all spending time with his family.
George is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Barbara, his children Kathleen Pallitto (Mike), Rick (Linda), and Suzanne Freaney (Ray). He also leaves behind his adoring grandchildren Christina, Michael (Nicole), James, Caitlin, and Brian.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 14 from 4-8 PM at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Ave, Livingston, NJ. Funeral mass will be offered at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, Roseland on Friday, May 15 at 10AM, with interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. In lieu of flowers, donations in George’s name may be made to Seton Hall Prep 120 Northfield Ave, West Orange, NJ 07052.
