Sending deepest condolences to Jerry's family. I just learned of his passing (after hearing from a colleague in B'dos, since I wasn't hearing from Jerry). He was respected, and I admired his demeanor when we interacted, as I (Leroy) worked on his cars at my shop in Montclair, NJ.
 Praying comfort and healing to his loved ones. May Jerry soar with the angels, and may he Rest in Peace. 🙏

We are so saddened to hear of Jerry’s passing.   It came as a terrible surprise to us. We will miss receiving Eucharistic from his loving hands. He was always so complimentary to both of us, that we always left church feeling good. Praise God for giving Jerry life!!

It has been said that people come into our lives for a reason and your presence in mine was remarkable.

My heart goes out to your immediate and extended family, as it must be incredibly difficult for them, at this time.  I pray that they will find strength and comfort in the memories you shared.

You are gone but not forgotten. You touched lives with your kindness. You emitted peace even in turbulent times. To know you was to love being in your presence.

It is with a heavy heart that I share this memory of my dear, departed friend Grafton “Jerry” Odwin-Hinds. We attended the same elementary school in Orange Hill, St. James, Barbados. We became pals in 1973, when he was studying at the University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica, and our close friendship survived and thrived during  51 years. Jerry was a decent, self-confident , caring, thoughtful, inspiring, courageous, and humble person. We shared family visits and many other activities. May his family find peace and comfort in this difficult time, mindful that grieving is a necessary part of healing.  RIP, Jerry.

Dear Maureen, Stuart and Extended Family,

We are deeply saddened that Jerry passed and hope the “Peaceful White Lilies Bouquet” and our heartfelt prayers for you and many found memories of him are a source of comfort.  Please know that the Belgrave family had an affinity for Jerry because he was refreshingly personable, welcoming and an “easy going” overall joy to be around.  

Consequently, my parents and my siblings and I, always looked forward to our interactions and communications with him by phone or in person at family gatherings where “West Indian” cultural connections and laughter were assured as Chef Jerry was “cooking or eating up a storm,” playing and dancing to Calypso, Soca, Reggae and other Riddims; or, as a result of his varied experiences and sage, leading a discussion on U.S. and West Indies politics, Shipping, Supply Chain Management and of course, family dynamics with a view towards “taking the high road” to promote peace and harmony! 

So, with Jerry being with the Good Lord at 77, let us all honor his memory by taking the action(s) necessary to promote peace and harmony within and beyond our family dynamics.  

Finally, Jerry was a good man, gone too soon, who will be forever loved and missed immensely.  Our sincere condolences & please know that we’re here for you today, tomorrow and always.
