

John J. Hengstler, 83, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2016. Born in Jersey City, John was a longtime resident of Livingston. He worked for 39 years for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail handler, before his retirement. John was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was an avid New York Yankees and Rangers fan and enjoyed vacationing at the Jersey Shore, playing the slot machines at the casino, and most of all spending time with his cherished family.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Ronnie (nee Hassett). He is also survived by his loving daughters Karen Iaconetti (Anthony), Laurie Hathaway (John), and Suzanne Hengstler (Joseph), as well as his adoring grandchildren Jennifer (Pat), Nicole, Kristen, Jessica, Alyssa, Joey, and Brianna, his sister Rose Olsen, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 8 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Livingston. Funeral Mass will be offered on Tuesday, August 9 at 10AM at St. Raphael’s Church, Livingston, with interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to the Livingston First Aid Squad.
