Born and raised in Newark, NJ on August 31, 1925, Josephine was the daughter of the late Joseph and Leocadia (Stanislawska) Trembicki. She was a long-term resident of Clifton, NJ. Josephine started her career in 1943 as an Assistant Supervisor and Clerk Typist in the Personnel and Statistical Department for Civilian Personnel in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. Afterwards, she spent many years working as an exemplary Executive Secretary and Stenographer in Northern NJ.
Josephine is survived by her children - Deborah Morandi and her husband Ted; Vicki L. Charles and her husband Ron; and Emily-Jo Gianchiglia and her husband James. Ms. DeFuria’s greatest love was her family; she was blessed with 10 grandchildren (Kristen, Michele, Michael, Sarah, RJ, Eric, Jenna, Daniel, Sharon and Christine) and 13 great grandchildren. Josephine set the best example for her family; always sharp, smart, and focused on good health. She especially loved spending time “down the shore” with her entire family. Josephine’s use of social networking to connect with her family and friends up to the day of her passing was amazing! Other passions included dancing and exercising (which she did into her early 90s).
Memorial donations in memory of Josephine may be made to The NJ Sharing Network(njsharingnetwork.org). A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1890 Washington Valley Road, Martinsville, NJ at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 17th, 2021. The Rite of Committal will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery & Mausoleum, 145 Mount Airy Rd, Basking Ridge, NJ.
