Loretta Traverso

Loretta Traverso (Ekeson), age 92, passed away on Saturday August 16, 2025 in Livingston, New Jersey. She was born in 1933 in Manville, New Jersey to Victor and Stefanie (Sobieski). Laura, as she was known to most, spent her childhood in Jersey City before moving in 1963 to Livingston, where she raised her seven children.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry (Hank); daughters, Lori Ann and Karen Ann; and grandson, Michael Gary.

She is survived by her sons, Kevin, Gary, Larry and James; and daughter, Kim. Also survived by 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Laura made fast friends, whether at church, in line at the supermarket, or with a salesperson at a favorite store. Her family wishes to thank the many individuals who helped the Traverso family over the years; your kindness was so appreciated, and these friendships meant the world to her.

A Visitation will be held at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Livingston, NJ, on Sunday, September 7th, 2025, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, September 8th, 2025, at St. Philomena’s Church, 386 S. Livingston Avenue, Livingston at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery at 225 Ridgedale Avenue in East Hanover.
