

Mary Dugan Pratt passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ. Born in the Park Slope section of Brooklyn, NY, Mary graduated from Saint Savior High School and Notre Dame College (now St. John’s University). She married the man from down her block, Harry H. Pratt, and traveled extensively with him throughout parts of the US and Europe, living for an extended period in France. After returning to the US, they purchased a home in West Nyack, NY. In 1962, they moved to West Orange, NJ. An avid gardener, she made it a priority to maintain a colorful, cheerful garden along her white picket fence for all to enjoy. She was a long time member of St. Joseph Church and its Rosary Society, and was for years a part of the team that created beautiful flower arrangements for the alter and Church. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend to many; her kind and loving heart will be sorely missed. She was predeceased by her husband and is survived by her loving daughter Cathleen Pratt Breitkopf (husband Scott) of Miami, FL, son Thomas K. Pratt of West Orange, sister Catherine D. McGurk, brother Thomas F. Dugan, 12 nieces and nephews, 23 great nieces and nephews. Viewings will be held at the Quinn Hopping Funeral Home of Livingston, 145 East Mount Pleasant Avenue, Livingston, on Sunday, 10/27, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday morning, 10/28, at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Church, 44 Benvenue Avenue, West Orange. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your preference.
