

Adalbert K. (Del) Wnorowski, husband of Marylou Wnorowski both of Longmont, CO passed away on September 18, 2025. Del was born on April 13, 1942 in Amsterdam, NY to the late Edward and Sally Wnorowski. He attended St. Stanislaus elementary school and St. Mary's High School in Amsterdam where he starred as a pitcher on the baseball team and later with semi-pro teams in summer leagues. In 1963 he graduated with a BA in history from Niagara University, NY., and in 1966 with a Juris Doctor in law from St. John's University, NY.
In 1967 Del entered the US Army Judge Advocate Generals Corp, as a Captain. While in the service he was a trial attorney and then specialized in Labor and Arbitration matters involving government employees. He was one of the founding instructors of the Department of Defense Labor Relations School at the JAG law school in Charlottesville, VA and then lectured there for a number of years. Del was admitted to practice law in the states of New York, Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri, and before the US Army Court of military appeals and the Supreme Court of the United States.
In 1970 Del entered into the private practice of law in Johnstown and Amsterdam, NY where he also served as the Assistant District Attorney of Fulton county, NY and as an Administrative Hearing Officer for the NY State Department of Labor Relations.
In 1973 Del joined General Telephone of NY as General Counsel. He then spent the next 17 years as a Vice President & General Counsel for 9 GTE telephone companies in the midwest and California and then as Senior Vice President & General Counsel and one of the founders of US Sprint, the predecessor to Sprint Corp. In 1990 Del left Sprint and joined Boston Technology, INC as Senior Vice President-administration & General Counsel. Boston Technology was one of the leading providers of voice mail systems to telephone companies all over the world. Over the next 8 years Del negotiated multimillion dollar contracts with the largest telephone companies in the US, Japan, and Brazil as the company grew to achieving over a billion dollars in annual revenue. In this role, and because of his expertise in telecommunications law, he was invited to Babson College as a guest lecturer to the directors of the China Telecom Bureaus on the federal and state telecommunications laws in the United States.
Del retired in 1999 to enjoy life with his lovely wife of 60 years, Marylou, and with their 6 children and 10 grandchildren. In addition to spending his time doing volunteer work for Holy Family Parish and other non-profit organizations on Cape Ann, he dedicated much of his retirement to being a volunteer with the Focolare Movement. The Focolare is an international Movement in182 countries, which promotes unity and peace by living the gospel and serving and loving the other person. His greatest joy was spending time traveling with Marylou and the special times he would spend with his grandchildren at the ocean or at the lake in New Hampshire. He was a loving and generous person who will be missed by all.
In addition to his wife Marylou Wnorowski, Del is survived by six children, Steve Wnorowski and his wife Patricia, of Austin TX; Nancy Mahoney and her husband Peter of Longmont. CO; James Wnorowski and his wife Sara of Erie, CO; Andrew Wnorowski of Windham, NH; US Army warrant officer Daniel Wnorowski (ret.) and his wife Irina of Evans, GA; and Lawrence Wnorowski and his wife Erica of Plover, WI. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren whom he adored: Caleb & Madelyn Wnorowski of Rockport, MA; Brynn Tuai and husband Sione, Anna and Gabriel Mahoney of Longmont, CO, Miriam & Martin Wnorowski of Austin, TX; Darya Wnorowski of Evans, GA.; Kaedance Wnorowski of Plover, WI and Arden Graffum Wnorowski of Georgetown, MA. He is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly Ezekiel, Rory, Jadon and Nathaniel Tuai; Ellie Wnorowski. And his brother Edward Wnorowski and his wife Gloria of Jacksonville, FL; his sister Azalea Baker and her husband Dan of Amsterdam, NY and many nieces and nephews all of whom he loved.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to be made to the Focolare Movement, 7 Intellect Way, Hyde Park, NY 12528, Holy Family Parish Cevicos Mission, St. John the Baptist, Longmont, CO., Catholic Charities North, Salem, MA, St. Vincent Depaul Society, Gloucester, MA, and/or the Cape Ann YMCA.
A visitation for Del will be held Wednesday, September 24, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St., Longmont, Colorado 80501. A Rosary will occur Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at 5:30 PM, 326 Terry St., Longmont, Colorado 80501. A Mass of Christian burial will occur Thursday, September 25, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 323 Collyer Street, Longmont, Colorado 80501. A Burial will occur Thursday, September 25, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery, 620 11th Avenue, Longmont, Colorado 80501.
