

Albert Spaegele, 77, of Longmont, CO passed away August 31, 2014 at Longmont United Hospital. He was born on September 21, 1936 in Hainfeld, Germany to Xaver and Katharina (Fätsch) Spägele.Albert grew up in Germany and graduated from the Sausage Business School, Special Hotel School and Chef Training School, all in Germany. He immigrated to the United States on May 12, 1960.Albert married Sharon Wilkie on June 19, 1965 and they moved to Longmont from Palm Desert, CA in 1968. Albert was Owner and Executive Chef of the Rhinelander Restaurant in Longmont from 1968-1975, quality control supervisor at Central Packing Co. in Boulder from 1976-1980, Owner of the Rhinelander Butcher Shop in Longmont from 1980-1981, and Executive Chef at the Boulder Country Club from 1982-1985, the Fox Hill Country Club from 1985-1989 and the Red Lion Inn from 1989-1999. Albert retired in 1999.Albert was a past member of the Moose Lodge and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and soccer. He especially enjoyed watching Germany win the 2014 World Cup.Albert was preceded in death by his parents.Albert is survived by his wife Sharon, daughters Erika Spaegele and Lisa Olson (Peter), his sister Christina Adt (Rainer), grandchildren Beckham and Ph be Olson and niece Yvonne Adt.Funeral services will be held at 1:30pm on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
