

Amy grew up in the mountains of Rociada. She loved riding horses and listening and dancing to her dad’s (canciones) music with all of her family.
In the 1940s Amy moved to Colorado from Las Vegas, New Mexico. On May 10, 1950 she married Felipe Castillo.
She worked as a dietician and food preparation assistant at Mercy Hospital in Denver and with Adams School District #14 as a dietician. Amy loved and cared for her six children, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Longmont, Colorado and of Our Lady Mother of the Church in Commerce City, Colorado.
Amy loved quilting with her community friends, listening and dancing to mariachi music, cooking and baking her excellent Mexican meals for her family and friends. She always looked forward to the family reunions in July.
Amy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Felipe Castillo and her brothers Abe Suazo, Bill Suazo, George Suazo, Tony Suazo and her sisters Emma Valdez, Josie Rodriquez and her granddaughter Vanessa Castillo.
Surviving are her sons Felipe Castillo, Jr., Victor Castillo and Carlos Castillo; her daughters Anna Castillo, Lisa Castillo and Sylvia Montour; her brothers Daniel Suazo and Martin Suazo; her sisters Susie Beem, Sister Rosa Suazo and Julie Vigil. She is further survived by her grandchildren Phillip Castillo, Domonic Montour, Angelo Montour, Alaysha Jensen, Shannon Castillo, Haley Castillo, Ian Castillo and great-grandchildren Felipe Castillo, Alexis Montour, Alaya Salankey and her great-great-granddaughter Noelle Castillo.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, February 28, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Howe Mortuary, 439 Coffman Street, Longmont, Colorado. Rosary prayers will begin at 6:00 PM. A mass of Christian burial will occur Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 323 Collyer Street, Longmont, Colorado. A graveside committal will be held at 11:00 AM at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery, 620 11th Avenue, Longmont, Colorado. A reception will follow at 12:00 PM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Benedict Hall.
