
Anne Day, 80, of Longmont, CO, passed away October 12, 2013 at Longmont United Hospital. Anne was born May 24, 1933 in Nishiosaki, Tokyo, Japan to Nasami & Mitsue Fujita. Following her parents deaths during WWII, she was adopted by an aunt.Anne attended Aoyama High School for Girls in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Japan, graduating in 1952 and Tsuda English School, Sendagaya, Japan, graduating in 1953.Anne married Airman Second Class Jerry B. Day at the Yokota Air Base Chapel in Japan on April 23, 1963. While Jerry was in the Air Force, they lived in Japan, Germany, Hawaii and Oklahoma. She and Jerry lived in Pennsylvania and 14 years in Louisville, CO before moving to Longmont in 1999. Anne worked as a nanny for U.S. Air Force commander families from 1952-1962 and managed the Yokota Air Base cafeteria from 1962-1963.Anne was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Longmont, sang in the Saints Alive Choir at East Boulder Baptist Church and was active in the Baptist Women's Missionary Union and the Friendship Program at East Boulder. Anne was a volunteer for the U.S. Force Family Service program from 1972-1982 at Lowery Air Base in Denver, Sembach Air Base in Germany and at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. While in Hawaii, she visited and helped wounded Vietnam military personnel at Tripler Hospital. Anne was selected the U.S. Air Force Volunteer of the Year in 1974. Anne was a driver for Meals on Wheels in Louisville and also volunteered as a teacher's aide when her son was in school.Anne is preceded in death by her parents and other Japanese family members.Anne is survived by her husband Jerry, son Timothy B. (Deborah) Day of Westfield, New Jersey and grandchildren Courtney and Timothy Day.Visitation 6:00 “ 8:00 PM, Wednesday, October 16 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel with family present to greet friends.
