He was honorably discharged. On August 24, 1959 he married Norma Haney in Anchorage, Alaska, where he had been transferred for his job.Archie had a 40-year career in oil exploration and drilling, working for Young Northern Exploration Company. He was a company man, working long hours in often harsh conditions. His work took him all over the United States, including a 3-month stint on the North Slope in Alaska. He and his family lived in many places in Wyoming, including Casper from 1974 to 1983. They moved to Longmont, CO, in 1983.After retiring in 1989, Archie continued to work at things he loved. For 25 years, he had a space in the Fort Collins Flea Market where he sold tools. He also assisted his wife with her antique business, known as Norma's Collectibles. Archie and Norma were nearly always present at Niwot Auction. For years, Archie also had a thriving home business doing small engine repairs and selling lawn mowers. When he wasn't working on tools or lawn mowers, Archie could be found in his garden. Nothing delighted him more than working the soil and sharing his harvest. He considered a perfect summer evening one where he could grill steaks or ribs and enjoy good company on the back patio.
