Arthur Hansen

Arthur Hansen of Longmont died July 31, 2011 at his home. He was 94 years old.Arthur was born on April 22, 1917 in New York, NY, the son of Herman C. and Jesse H. (Evans) Hansen. He grew up in New York, working as a courier on Wall Street in his teens. Arthur honorably served in the National Guard.He married Eleanor Green in October 1938 and they enjoyed 72 years of marriage.After working as a courier, Arthur worked his way up the corporate ladder, ending his career as CEO, President and Chairman of the Board of A.Y. McDonald Corporation. He also served as the Chairman of the United Way, taught a business class for high school students and was on the boards of two universities. Arthur moved to Longmont originally in 1996. He later moved to Florida and then returned in 2003. An avid reader, Arthur enjoyed spending time with his family and going out to eat.He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dorothy Blome.Arthur is survived by his loving wife, Eleanor Hansen; his son, Wayne Hansen; two daughters, Carol Blair (Mike) and Pam Blight (David); seven grandchildren, Cathi, Kelli, Bobbi, Shaun, Christy, Jon and Erica; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.Private family services will be held. Cremation at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association and can be mailed to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
