Barbara Ann Jones FoxJanuary 10, 1930 “ April 21, 2017. Barb was born the beloved only child of Leon and Helen Jones. of North Denver, She was a bookworm and loved attending all her schools: Columbia Elementary, Skinner Junior High, and North High School in Denver.Barbara was accepted at the University of Colorado in Boulder but then met a dashing returning WWII vet “named Kenneth“who was attending Aggies (Colorado State) in Fort Collins. She promptly changed school plans and graduated high school early ˜to get a head start on classes.' There were lots of skiing and skating trips with her new beau, Ken, who was from the flatlands of Kansas. It was not long until the original Barbie and Ken started their 63 years of marriage on August 7, 1949.Four little Foxes came in succession over the next six years, all of whom now survive their parents: Raymond (& Trudy) Fox of Fort Collins, Glenda (& Ken) Amen of Sterling, Marilyn (& Dr. Jack) Amen of Gooding Idaho, and Ina (& Mark) O'Dell of Berthoud. The young Fox family lived in a trailer in Kansas, and in homes in Lakewood, Arvada, and for almost 40 years on the farm outside of Berthoud. Amazingly, Ken and Barbara built all but one of these homes themselves.Over her lifetime Barbara developed many legacies such as: hospitality, reading, gardening including keeping her grandmother's peonies, iris, and grape hyacinths alive, which are now almost 100 years old! She also loved cooking and researched healthy cooking decades before it was ˜cool'. One of her passions was professional baking and cake decorating, which she shared widely with family, friends, and her husband's co-workers. Barbara had special love for her long time friends in her Bible Study and Sunday School class at LifeBridge Christian Church in Longmont. Barbara loved travelling, having visited all 50 states multiple times during her life, and multiple international trips to places like Honduras, England, Scotland, Canada and Austria visiting her kids and doing mission work. In advance of each trip, she would diligently write letters to local tourism boards requesting travel brochures to help plan the trips. One of Barbara's great legacies was her stalwart constitution. She lived throughout the U.S., as her husband's work demanded, including at Boy Scout camps and in cabins on fish hatcheries and wildlife refuges. But above all, she loved her native Colorado. On her 65th birthday, Barbara celebrated by camping in a tent in the January snow of Rocky Mountain National Park. Barbara also quietly, but diligently, guided and prayed for her four children and their spouses, as well as her nine beloved grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. May her memory be Eternal!A funeral is planned for Monday, April 24, 2017, to be held at either LifeBridge Christian Church or Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
