Barbara Ann Gonzales - Garza

Barbara Ann Gonzales-Garza of Greeley, Colorado, died May 11, 2008, at her residence. She was 42.Barbara was born December 21, 1965 in Longmont. She was raised in Firestone and graduated from Frederick High School in 1985. She also attended Career Development Center, where she was in the horticulture program. An illness from an early age caused her a disability, which she gallantly battled her entire life. Her fierce sense of independence led her to move out and live on her own. Barbara's love for children, frequently found her helping friends and neighbors with babysitting.Barbara was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church, Frederick. She loved to read, especially the Bible and scripture. Her love for writing provided enjoyment for her family by the personal notes and letters sent to them regularly. She also showed skill at writing poetry, as the family has received and found many pieces of her work of late.Preceding her in death are her grandparents, and a brother, Ronald Garza.Surviving are her parents, Lionel Garza and Rosann Gonzales Garza; three brothers, Matthew (Amanda) Garza of Frederick, Julian (Shauntina) Garza of Dacono, and Lionel (Mary) Garza, Jr. of Parma, Idaho; Chris Gomez of Firestone; Cathie (Joe) Wagner of Firestone; David Gomez of Scottsdale, Arizona; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:30 pm, Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at St. Theresa's Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 15, at the Church with The Reverend Hernan Flores as Celebrant.Interment will be held at Foothills Gardens of Memory, Longmont.Contributions may be made to the Barbara Gonzales Memorial Fund, c/o Howe Mortuary, 439 Coffman St., Longmont, CO 80501.Please share thoughts, memories and condolences with the family at www.howemortuary.com.
