Betty A. Frisk

Betty A. Frisk was born on April 24, 1918, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. She was the daughter of Nelson H. Rasmussen and Theresa C. Dzingle. After attending school in Scottsbluff, she enrolled at the University of Denver and the University of Oklahoma, graduating from the Library School at the University of Denver with a BA degree in Library Science in 1939. She worked for one year at the Smiley Branch Library in the Denver Public Library system.On March 29, 1941, she married Richard L. Frisk, and after living in Denver for a short time, moved to Evanston, Illinois where her husband was associated with the International Harvester Company in Chicago. After living in Evanston and Wilmette area for 13 years, the family moved to Longmont in 1954 where her husband became a partner in Mountain Truck and Equipment Co., an International Harvester dealership.Mrs. Frisk was active in the Longmont Community Hospital Auxiliary where she served as president and in Chapter CJ of P.E.O. She served 5 years on the Longmont Library Board and in recent years, volunteered time at the Longmont Public Library. She was employed at the law offices of Flanders, McCarty & Wood from 1968 to 1988.She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Frisk, her brother, John A. Rasmussen of Omaha, Nebraska, and her granddaughter, Wendi E. Wikstrand. She is survived by three daughters, Jane Wikstrand, and her husband, Gary, of Wheat Ridge, Colorado; Carol Frisk of Tukwila, Washington; Mary Marcucci, and her husband, Tyrone, of Huntsville, Alabama; her granddaughter Marni Roybal , and her husband Randy, of Littleton, Colorado, and two great-granddaughters, Payton Roybal and Delaney Roybal, and several nieces and nephews.Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 1303 S. Bross Lane, Longmont. Cremation will precede the services. Memorials may be made to the O.U.R. Center, or Family Hospice of Boulder in c/o Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
