Betty Jo Reese (Seelig)

Betty Jo Reese, 94 of Longmont passed away August 15, 2015. She is now resting in Glory. She was born June 30, 1921 to Charles O & Mary (Schaaf) Seelig on the farm near Cortez, Colorado, she was the youngest of three children. Her family moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1922 where she grew up and attended school. She graduated from Colorado Springs High School in 1939. She went on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree from Western State College and a Master’s of Science in librarianship from the University of Denver.

Betty Jo enjoyed a long career teaching in the public school system in Cortez, Gunnison, Canon City and eastern Pennsylvania. She spent 30 years in the Boulder Valley School District where she retired as librarian of Platt Jr. High in 1988.

On November 20, 1941, she married Donald Wesley Reese in Gunnison, Colorado he preceded her in death in 1996. Betty Jo enjoyed reading, library work which continued after retirement to the church library, traveling and visits from friends and family. Mrs. Reese is survived by her daughters, Sheryl Millage of Phoenix, Arizona, and Robin Reese of Longmont; four grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held, Wednesday August 19, 2015, 2:00 p.m. at LifeBridge Christian Church. Private cremation has been held. Memorial contributions may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital or The Alzheimer’s Association in c/o Howe Mortuary.
