
Betty M. Silvestri of Longmont died November 21, 2011 at her home. She was 91 years old.Betty was born on March 3, 1920 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, the daughter of Ernie and Mable (Robertson) Poland. She moved to Boulder from Hibbing, Minnesota in 1956 and then to Longmont in 1958.Betty worked in the restaurant industry and is most remembered as having managed the Del Camino Truck Stop Restaurant and The Lariat Café in Longmont from the early 1960s through the early 1980s.She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and American Legion Post 32 Ladies Auxiliary. Together with her husband J , Betty was involved with organizing banquets, bingo and other fundraising activities for the American Legion. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Joseph L. Silvestri on October 27, 2009; her parents; her brother Bud Poland; her sister, Ida (Edner) Smith; her half brother Clifford Wertz and her half sister, Delta Card.Betty is survived by her son, Larry Silvestri of Pueblo; her daughter, Karen Sterkel (Gary) of Longmont; her grandchildren, Mike Silvestri (Michelle) of Colorado Springs, Karie Docheff (Jay) of Longmont, Tabitha Silvestri of Longmont, Jamie Mendez (Miguel) of Mead; her great-grandchildren, Matthew and Megan Silvestri, Casey and Jaycee Docheff, Caleb, Kylee and Calvin Mendez and Samantha, Thomas and Joseph DiPalma and many nieces and nephews.A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Cremation at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. Memorial Contributions may be made to HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties or to the Tiny Tim Center and mailed to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
