
Burdette Leroy Cain, 92, formerly of Longmont died Wednesday, April 22nd at Union Court Assisted Living in Arvada. He was born August 8, 1922 in Gowanda, Colorado to Ora O. and Mabel A. Cain (Crile) and grew up in Platteville. Burdette graduated from Platteville High School in 1940 and attended Colorado State University in Ft. Collins. Burdette left school to work for Consolidated Aircraft in San Diego, CA and was married to Norma Poirot, also from Platteville, on December 22, 1941. After enlisting in the United States Army Air Corps in 1942, Burdette served as a Master Sargent in Italy as a flight chief on B-24's and B-29's. He was honorably discharged after the war's end and then worked for B ing Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas. In following years, Burdette was employed by Ford Motor Company as a salesman as well as owning and operating a Conoco Service Station in Ft. Lupton. For over 40 years Burdette worked in the life insurance and investment business with Security Life of Denver taking many college courses along the way and earning his CLU designation. He served as National Committee Chairman for the local Life Underwriters Association for several terms. Burdette was a member of the First United Methodist Church for many years serving on various boards and committees. He was the Charter President of the Ft. Lupton Lions Club and Past Master of Ft. Lupton Masonic Lodge #119. As a member of the Longs Peak Chapter of Barber shoppers SPEBSQSA, he loved singing for local and chapter occasions. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Norma Poirot Cain, one daughter, Connie Sue Cain Wallner at age 47, his mother and father, his sister, Cleora Swarts, a brother and sister, Delbert and Loreta Cain who died in childhood. He is survived by one brother, Donel Cain (Velma) of West Jordan, Utah; two daughters, Jill D. Serr (Larry) of Grand Junction, CO; Lorilee Winter (Jim) of Santa Fe, NM; six grandchildren, Kristin Wallner Corash (Dennis) of Erie; Juliann Wallner (Brent Stark) of Denver; Jon L. Armstrong (Marissa) of Littleton; Kimberly Heismann (Chris) of Lakewood; Heather Winter Look (John) of Bloomington, MN; Jamie Winter Young (Dave) of Minneapolis, MN; fourteen great-grandchildren, Jeremy and Erin Corash, Melissa Corash Woodward; Thorin and Tyr Yee, Annika Stark; Sydney, Danielle and Riley Armstrong; August and Z y Heismann; Elizabeth and Abigail Look; Harrison Young; and several great-great grandchildren. Cremation with interment at Mizpah Cemetery in Platteville, no formal services.
