Connie Jane Grommon, 80, of Berthoud,Co (formerly of Aitkin, Minnesota), danced her way into heaven on August 19, 2025, undoubtedly in one of her signature costumes. Born on December 2, 1944, to Ralph and Ruth Waffensmith, Connie lived a life full of laughter, love, and just the right amount of mischief.
To her family, Connie was everything: a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and the life of every party. To her nieces and nephews, she was lovingly known as “Coo Coo,” a name earned by her wild sense of humor, silly costumes, and her gift for making everyone laugh until they cried. Connie had the rare ability to make people feel truly seen, heard, and loved—and she did it effortlessly.
Connie is survived by her two children, Tari Hoagland and Rick Smith (Debbie); her beloved grandchildren Landan Hoagland (Sarah) and Kylee Frevert (Grant); Lauryn MacDonald (David Chirillo), Zach Smith, and her adored great-grandchildren Lola Hoagland, Carter Frevert, and Hudson Frevert. She is also survived by her sisters Evonne and Shirley. She joins in heaven her husband and best friend, Gary Grommon, who undoubtedly was waiting with open arms.
When Connie wasn’t lighting up a room with her smile, she could be found tending to her garden, planning her next adventure, or soaking up time with her grandkids—the true loves of her life. Traveling to Mexico with her family and celebrating holidays was one of all time favorite things to do. She believed in living boldly, laughing often, and loving without limits.
A celebration of Connie’s incredible life will be held on September 7th from 12pm-2pm at the Grommon residence in Berthoud, CO. Bright colors are encouraged—because Connie would never settle for beige.
In her honor, do something silly today. Wear a costume, dance in your kitchen, laugh until your cheeks hurt—because that’s what Connie would want.
