I'm so sad to find Dale's obituary. I had a dream about him the other night. I wanted to see how things were going for him. We've been out of contact for so long  but I didn't expect to find out he'd passed so many years ago. I'll always love him. He was my first... He'll always be in my heart.  RIP  Theresa

I do not know how to sum up 44 years of friendship. Nothing I can put into words can describe the good times and bad that Dale and I have shared.        I learned a great deal about life and what matters from Dale. He was one of the most nonjudgmental and compassionate people I have ever had the privilege of calling my friend.       His wit is legend among those that knew him well, puzzling at times to those who didn’t.        My friend, I will miss the evenings in the woodshop, the meals we shared, and knowing you were always there if I needed you.        A couple of quotes I like,        “It takes along time to grow an old friend.” Dale and I took that time. And,        “Your friend is a man who knows all about you, and still likes you.”               I lost a friend but I will keep his memory.         I miss you my friend.          My love goes out to Giulia, my second mother, Lois, his sister and Megan his daughter.         I love you all, Scot.

This is the recommendation I gave for Dale to my friend, Deb Turunjian: "" Dale's imazing to me. He's the hardest worker I know at just about everything...because he can do just about everything...and do it really well.  If he can't he''ll tell you so and find someone who can.  It's gotten to be that Dale knows whats needed doing before I do.  You'll either love him or hate him.""    Still...Dale was a mystery to me...an enigma...a guy who marched to his own drum beat.  Then there was that crazy sense of humor.    He had a very witty, very sarcastic mouth at times --  I once told him that must have made it really hard for him to grow up in the way-Middle America hotspot of Longmont Colorado.  He said, ""Yeah, I got beat up a lot.""    Then he'd tell me some of his younger days exploits and I'd say, ""Jeez, I can't believe you're still alive..."" and now he's not. No matter what, Dale always kept true to his word- that is more than I can say for most. At times when my sobriety seemed so hopeless & meaningless, Dale was the first to acknowledge my determination & strength to better my life. He proved to be a true friend- in which I will never forget.

To the Friends & Family of Dale Echols, I know there is little or nothing I could say or do to ease your pain or mine.Dale was a good Father, a good Son, a good Brother, and an excellent Friend.There were times when I felt like I wouldn't even know when I'd even feel like smiling again. My memories of Dale are from us being neighbors and having fun all the time while growing up in the country (in the 70's).  He had such a great laugh and there was never a dull moment with Dale.  Sadly, I had lost contact with him over the years. When I drive out that way past the house, I would think of him, his craziness, and those totem poles he had such a fun time carving! People that weren't fortunate enough to know him have no idea what they missed.

I am so very sorry for your loss.  When I saw Dale's name, I immediately remembered his grin and sense of humor, and my thoughts were quickly transported back to our school bus days while we were at Hygiene, Longmont and Niwot.

I am so sorry to hear about Dale's passing, he was a very close friend of mine while we were in school.  My thoughts and prayers go to his family.  He had the most wonderful sense of humor of anyone I have ever known.

I am sorry that Dale has passed. I have many fond memories of our summers together in Hygiene. He was very intelligent with great artistic gifts. I remember his many cartoons that he would draw. My heart goes out to his family. Chris Dionigi

It was a privilege to grow up with Dale.  He was a great guy.  I still have the Totem pole he made for me with a chain saw  when we were in high school.

I am so sorry to hear that Dale passed away.  He helped us a lot with work around our small farm (Lenore's prior home).  He was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed.
