David Kenneth Costello

David Kenneth Costello passed away January 15, 2015 at Longmont United Hospital. He was 78 years old.David was born on October 7, 1936 to David F. and Cecilia (Waldkirch) Costello. He was raised in Ft. Collins, CO, and graduated from high school in Portland, OR. David returned to Colorado for college, completing a B.A. degree at St. Thomas Seminary in Denver. Following his ordination in 1962 David served as a priest for eleven years in the Diocese of Denver & Colorado Springs. Upon leaving the priesthood, he moved to San Diego where he met Joyce Karen Baldwin. The were married on December 26, 1975 in Mt. Vernon, Colorado.They lived in San Diego, California for 30 years. David was the Dean of Student Services at National University for 20 years. While working at National University he earned an Ed. D. from the University of San Francisco. After National University he owned and operated Costello Tax Service, where he was an Enrolled Agent with the IRS and a fiduciary agent. David moved to Longmont in 2006. He was a member at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church. He volunteered at the Longmont Senior Center, serving as the local coordinator for the AARP tax program. In his free time he liked relaxing at home, golfing and hiking.David was preceded in death by his daughter Sheryl Costello and his parents.He is survived by his wife Joyce of Longmont; his daughter Ann Marie Costello of San Diego, CA; his brother Donald Costello of Morgan Hill, CA; and his sister Barbara McDougle of Ojai, CA.A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30am Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church.
