

Dean Leroy Olander moved from his beloved farm to heaven on October 31, 2016. Dean was born on August 5th 1924 to Swedish settlers Carl and Blanche Olander of Longmont Colorado. He attended Pleasant View Ridge School and graduated from Longmont High School in 1942. Dean met Dorothy A. Ross of Longmont and they married in 1953. They were blessed with three children, Kendall, Randall and Andrea. Dean and Dorothy became the proud owners of a farm in 1963. This farm was their heaven on earth and they lived and worked on this farm for the next 53 years. Dean was a farmer all of his life in the Longmont area. Dean was a member of Sirloin Club, Elks Club, Colorado Cattle Feeders Association, Longs Peak Water Board, Ryssby Committee as a founding family member, and a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church.Dean and Dorothy were avid CSU football Fans and enjoyed many seasons of football together over the years. Dean enjoyed wood turning, fishing, traveling, playing cards, he was also an avid reader of history and old westerns. Dean was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Dorothy, his brother Donald Olander, his sister Glenna Olander, younger brother Ray Olander and his Grandson Nathaniel Ross Olander. He is survived by his children Ken and (Cindy) Olander, Randy (Nancy) Olander, and Andrea and (Mark) Kr ker. He is survived by his grandchildren, Sarah and (Mike) Mendes, Jonathan and (Lauren) Olander, Zach and (Bree) Olander, Lindsey (Jason) Reeves, Liza K Olander, Kelsey, Kyle, Katie, Kaleb and Karly Kr ker. There is a great grandchild due in November. He is also survived by his sister Vergena Hillis and sister-in-law Evelyn Johnson. Dean will be remembered for his Farm Sense, his wit and dry sense of humor. But most of all he will be remembered for the love he had for his wife Dorothy, his children, and grandchildren. As his life started coming to a close over the course of a couple of years¦.he was known as someone who found life worth living.Visitation and viewing will be 4 PM to 6 PM Thursday Nov. 3, 2016 in the fire side room at First Evangelical Lutheran Church. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM Friday Nov 4, also at First Lutheran Church. Interment will be at Ryssby Cemetery.
