In 1949, she married the love of her life, John F. (Jack) Murphy. Dixie and Jack moved to Mount Vernon, IA where Jack owned and operated Mount Vernon Ford. Dixie was a homemaker and mother. Dixie and Jack had two children.
Dixie is survived by her son, Michael Murphy, her daughter, Shannon (John) McKinney, her beloved granddaughter, Megan Jean McKinney, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husbands, John F. Murphy and Gene Degenere, her brothers, Howard and John Reppert.
Dixie was an incredible wife, mother and grandmother. Everyone that knew her, loved her. Dixie’s smile would light up the room. Even in her final months, she would make sure her clothes matched, make up was on and hair was done. She was a class act and will be remembered for her kindness and love.
Dixie will be cremated and laid to rest next to her beloved, Jack, in Colorado Springs. No services will be held, per her request.
Dixie was in the care of Halcyon Hospice for 22 months preceding her death. The loving care of the staff was greatly appreciated by the family. The family is grateful for the condolences, but requests that in lieu of flowers, that a donation be made, in her name, to Halcyon Hospice, P.O. Box 177, Mead, CO 80542.
