

Donald “Don” George Cheyne, loving father and grandfather, passed in peace on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at the age of 76. Don will be fondly remembered as a life-long avid fisherman, devoted and entertaining friend, proud father and grandfather.
Don was born on February 19, 1940 in Yonkers, New York to Elizabeth “Betty” Cheyne, who emigrated from Belfast, Northern Ireland, and George Cheyne, who emigrated from Glasgow, Scotland. Don enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 17 and served our country as a UDT “Frogman” for several years before being honorably discharged. He married Leslie (Geissinger) Adler in May 1963 and had three children who survive him: Lisa Marino (Ft. Collins), Don Cheyne “Jr.” (Mead), and Laura Ammarell Deasy (Highlands Ranch). He is survived by seven grandchildren: Tatum Ammarell, Trevor Ammarell, Taryn Ammarell, Brian Deasy, and Reese Deasy, all of Highlands Ranch; Cayley Cheyne of Mead; and Sophia Marino of Ft. Collins.
Friends and family will join in a celebration of his life on Monday, May 9, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Howe Mortuary.
Donations in memory of Don may be sent to Lakewood Villa, where a staff of incredible and devoted caretakers who loved him dearly took gentle care of him in his last days with us.
