

Donald Keith Hiskey, age 85, passed away on January 11, 2025. He was born on February 26, 1939, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Walter and Beulah Hiskey. Don spent his early years in Missouri, graduating from high school in Chillicothe. After briefly studying in Southern California, he returned to earn a political science degree from Northeast Missouri State in Kirksville.
With his first wife Connie (deceased) Don raised two sons in Kirksville, where he worked as an on-air announcer at KIRX radio. In 1972, after running a congressional campaign, he moved his family to Jefferson City, Missouri. There, he served with the Department of Revenue, the Department of Transportation, and the Missouri Attorney General’s Office.
In 1979, Don relocated to Fort Collins, Colorado, before moving to Denver. It was there he met and later married Mary Adele Cortner in 1984; the couple soon settled in Longmont. For over 30 years, Don successfully operated a wholesale gift business, Hiskey & Co., along with other divisions.
A devoted member of St. Luke Church in Erie, Colorado, for more than 30 years, Don was instrumental in fundraising efforts for the current temple and found great joy in singing in the choir. His commitment to his faith, his church community, and his principled approach to running his business left a lasting impression, endearing him to his colleagues, friends, and family.
Don is survived by his wife, Mary Adele Hiskey; his two sons and their spouses, Mark (Shelly) Hiskey of California and Mike (Suzy) Hiskey of Littleton; two grandchildren in California; his brother David Hiskey of Missouri; his sister Sandra Kopke of Missouri; and his brother Jim Hiskey of Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his brother Jerry Hiskey, his sister Judy Schuyler and his first wife Connie Adams Hiskey.
A Trisagion memorial service and visitation will be held Wednesday, January 15 at 7:00 PM at St. Luke Orthodox Christian Church, 722 Austin Ave., Erie, Colorado. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 16 at 9:30 AM at the church, followed by interment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Erie. Lunch will be provided at the church after interment.
