After graduation, she went off to Washington, D.C., to work as a file clerk at the F.B.I. She met her husband, Phil, who was serving in the Navy, on a blind date. They married in July of 1964 and lived in Arlington, Virginia until her husband’s time in the service was up.
They then headed to Denver, Colorado, where Donna worked for an oil field supply company. In July 1967, they packed up their cat and moved to Los Angeles, California, where Phil started a career in the motion picture industry.
In 1968, Donna became a mother of a son, and they bought their first home in Simi Valley outside of Los Angeles. In 1972, a daughter was born. She was a stay-at-home mom and did daycare from home until 1985 when she went to work for the Simi school district as the “lunch lady” at one of the elementary schools. She retired in 2001 and moved back to Colorado with her husband and daughter.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Phil, son James, daughter-in-law Stacey, daughter Beth, grandsons Ethan, and Brandon, and oldest brother Ray Miller of Ravenna, Ohio, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Donna will be held at Howe Mortuary in Longmont on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at Longs Peak United Methodist Church. Following the service, there will be a reception in the Fellowship Hall.
