Johnston, 98, of Longmont passed away June 7, 2016 at Exempla Good Samaritan Medical Center in Lafayette.She was born July 9, 1917 at Keota, Colorado to Clarence and Golda (Hughes) Quackenbush. Doris graduated from high school in Buckingham, CO.On August 7, 1938 she married Ralph A. Johnston. Together they lived in Cheyenne, WY, Boulder, CO, and Lafayette, CO before moving to Longmont in 2001.Doris was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. Her family has always been very important to her; she worked hard to keep them all together. She was also the bookkeeper for Ralph's various businesses.A religious woman she was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Doris enjoyed crocheting, going to dinner theaters and was an animal lover, she especially enjoyed her dog.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ralph on January 25, 2012 and two sisters Vida Olson and Mamie Douglas.Doris is survived by her daughter Wanda Sterner (Larry), three grandchildren Tracy Donahoo (Mandy), Sandra Barley (Dick) and Crystal Sheppard (Mark), eight great grandchildren Kevin, Aaron, David, Lauren, Stephen, Alex, Nichole and Victoria, five great great grandchildren Zach, Corrine, Hailey, Connor and Silas, and a sister Clarice Hatcher.Graveside services will be held at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens, Cheyenne, WY at 10:30am on Friday June 10, 2016.
