

Doris was born February 25, 1920 in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Herbert Garfield and Minnie (Balschun) Carnes.
On September 1, 1939 she married Ernest Koehler in Omaha, Nebraska. He preceded her in death in 2004.
Doris was employed at the 1st National Bank of Omaha for more than 20 years. She was of Lutheran Faith and was a member of Faith Community Lutheran Church. She was also active in the Quilters Guild while living in Pueblo, CO and participated in the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. She not only enjoyed quilting, but also sewing and painting.
Survivors include her sons John (Patricia) Koehler, Longmont, CO, Ernest (Joanne) Koehler, Cedaredge, CO and Robert (Nancy) Koehler, The Woodlands, TX and eight grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Further survivors include her sister Joyce Ann Englebrecht, San Dimas, CA.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Raymond A. Carnes, and brother-in-law Bill Englebrecht.
Cremation has been entrusted to Howe Mortuary and Cremation Services.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 26, 2011 in the Howe Mortuary Community Room with Pastor Bruce Wehlander officiating.
