
Douglas Benjamin Kankiewicz, 38, of Longmont, CO passed away December 17, 2016 at home. Ben was born in Solvang, California on January 4, 1978, to Thomas and Debra Kankiewicz. He grew up in the Central Coast area of California. He was the fourth of six childrenBen was intuitive, always taking things apart and putting them back together. He had great technical aptitude and could fix anything. He was invited to train for the Olympic Swim team in Southern California at the age of 14. Ben was proud of the fact he was self-educated. Swimming, soccer and basketball are the sports he enjoyed. Early hobbies were HO train models and several pets. He remained on the Central Coast of CA till he moved to Longmont in 2004 where he continued to build his business, Spectronix that started out selling memory chips, then mother boards, assembled computers and continued on to repair amplifiers and projectors. He was a successful business promoter and owner. He was also an inventor and owner of several patents. His church affiliation was Faith Community Lutheran Church.Ben enjoyed remodeling houses, carpentry, electrical work, fixing things, spending time with family members and nephews. He also enjoyed music, geology, swimming and History of Religion and the Bible.Ben is survived by his parents, Thomas and Debra Kankiewicz; brothers, Adam, Christian, David and Thomas II; sister Cynthia Schechter; nephews Judah and Liam (Cynthia and Dave Schechter's children of Boulder, CO), Jack and niece Signe (Adam and Kim's children of Washington), Uncle John and Paul Cucura; Aunts Karen Cucura of California and Mrs. Lee Mackey of Cleveland, Ohioand Grandmother Mrs. Constance Cucura of California. A Celebration of Life will be at 11:00 AM January 4, 2017 at Faith Community Lutheran Church, Longmont. Private interment at Ryssby Cemetery.
