

Edna Chizuko Yamada, died August 2, 2008 at LifeCare of Longmont at the age of 90.Edna was born on February 16, 1918 in Alamosa, Colorado to Tatsu Matsumonji and Tsumyo Takefuji. She moved to the Ft. Lupton area where she graduated from Ft. Lupton High School in 1936. In June of 1939 she married George Yamada in Brighton, Colorado. In 1975, Edna retired from Martin Marietta after 20 years of service. One of the accomplishments she was most proud of was her involvement in the Titan Missile Project.An active spirit, Edna was famous for running the weekly football pool for many years at Martin Marietta. She enjoyed dancing, especially line dancing, trips to Las Vegas, playing bingo and had a true love of shopping.Surviving are her three sons, David Yamada and his wife Judy of Harlan, Iowa, George Yamada and his wife Dawn of Bloomington, Illinois and Glenn Yamada and his wife Cheryl of Longmont; three daughters June Kohn and her husband Sonny of Boca Raton, Florida, Carrie Helmer and her husband Bruce of Aurora and Shirlee Adolfson and her husband Mark of Niwot, a sister Blanche Miers and her husband Marvin of Fowler, and a brother Ike Matsumonji and his wife Pauline of Northglenn, 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.A cremation has been entrusted to the Howe Mortuary.Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 9 at the Howe Mortuary Chapel, with Reverend Kanya Okamoto officiating.Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Colorado Affiliate2480 W. 26th Ave., Suite 120B, Denver, CO 80211 or American Heart AssocationLocal Home – Denver, 1280 South Parker Road, Denver, CO 80231.Please share your thoughts, memories and condolences with the family at www.howemortuary.com.
