

He was born on April 7th, 1932, in Palisade, NE. He suffered from and passed away from complications due to dementia.
Ed moved to McCook, NE and went to High School there. That is also where he met his future wife, Darlene. He joined the Army National Guard in 1949 and joined the US Air Force in 1952. Ed served in Viet Nam from 1968-1969 where he was awarded the Bronze Star. He retired from the military service in 1972. In 1973, he bought the Chevron Station at Longs Peak and Main Street in Longmont. He then purchased the Chevron Station at 17th and Main Street in 1975. He sold the Chevron Stations in January of 1986 and pursued a career as an over-the-road truck driver. He retired from trucking in 2009.
Ed married Darlene L. Trautman on August 5, 1951. They had three children: Edward L. Patton, Jr (and wife Phyllis), Kathleen A. Arthur (and husband, Edward), Cynthia S. Kennedy (and husband, Brad); six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, seven great great-grandchildren and his dog, Charlie- aka Chuck, along with many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Darlene; brothers, Kenny and Mike; sister, Pat, and his grandson, Jeffery A. Mathias.
