

Elaine Maxine Fixsen Standish Younger, 88, passed away at The Life Care Center of Longmont on Saturday, March 10, 2018. Elaine was born August 14, 1929 on her grandparents farm, in Goodland, Kansas. The daughter of Harry Lyle and Edna (Wolfrum) Fixsen. Elaine attended 8 years of school at Grant Grade school, and graduated from Sherman County High School in 1947. During her senior year, she worked for Eugene Zuspann, Attorney, after which, she was employed at Higdon Drug Store until 1949 when she became a secretary for Doris and Nell Soden at the Goodland Savings and Loan Association. She worked there until her marriage in May 1951. She and her first husband, Melvin DeLayne Standish who died in 2005, moved to Nampa, Canyon, Idaho. She was employed as Credit Manager at the Van Englen Department. They returned to Goodland in 1956 and worked for Goodland Savings & Loan for the next 12 years as Executive Secretary. She knew from an early age, she wanted to be a secretary and realized her dream and beyond.On April 16, 1969 she married Felix Edward Hap Younger in Rockwall, Rockwall, Texas and they resided in the Dallas, Texas area for the next 35 years, until he died on October 12, 2001. She studied accounting at Texas Junior College during those years. At Keypunch Inc, she was in charge of payroll for several shifts. She was employed at United Way of Metropolitan Dallas as assistant auditor; at Ryan Mortgage Company, as payroll, benefits and their 401k retirement plan manager. At Foster Mortgage Company in Ft Worth, she audited and balanced Federal FNMA and GNMA loans they serviced. She retired at age 62, on January 10, 1992. Her husband, Hap Younger, retired at 70 yrs of age and lived until 80 yrs of age. In July 2003, she moved toLongmont, Colorado to live with her sister, Phyllis E. Morgan.Her Grandparents, Parents, Brother Robert, husbands, one Grandson, and many aunts, uncles, cousins & friends preceded her in death. Left to mourn her passing are her sons Marc Andrew Standish of Springfield, Missouri and Gregory Layne Standish & wife Theresa of Omaha, Nebraska; grandsons: Aaron Joseph, Nicholas Andrew, Andrew Michael and Eric Gregory Standish; her Sister, Phyllis Eloise Morgan of Longmont, Colorado and brother, Everett Lyle Fixsen of Ft Collins, Colorado.Her interest in family history began at the age of ten, when her grandmother, Rachel (Clark) Wolfrum, gave her a small blue book, Who's Who to Me. She and Phyllis worked on genealogy beginning at age 72; and in her leisure, she liked walking; crocheting afghans for nieces, nephews, friends and relatives; reading and doing crossword puzzles; plus the computer games of Spider & Solitaire.At age 72, she purchased a computer in 2003 and went to school to learn the various software applications, through Senior Net program at the Longmont Senior Center, and Front Range Community College. She utilized the computer to make cards, produce and restore older pictures. The pictures she took with a camera were processed on her computer & printer. She continued taking pictures, genealogy and correspondence until her death. She was always pleasant to be around, with a smile for everyone. She enjoyed her world & trees were of special interest, especially the p m Trees by Joyce.Cremation entrusted to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory, her ashes will be inurned at Foothill Gardens of Memory, Hwy 287 N of Longmont, Boulder County, Colorado, beside her beloved 2nd husband, Felix E.
