Eleanor "Ellie" Aiken

Ellie was born in Manhattan, New York on January 26, 1930 to Margaret G. (Moynahan) and James O. Hammer. She had two sisters and one brother. She married George R. Aiken on August 19, 1950 and they were together until the time of his passing in 1974. Ellie and George welcomed four sons and a daughter. Ellie relocated to Longmont from Marlboro, NJ in 1997.

Ellie was primarily a homemaker, but went to work for Prudential Life Insurance after George’s death. She was with the company for 14 years. She loved numbers and was very well suited for this work. She was a woman of great faith and a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Longmont. Ellie was an avid reader and was a great writer of poems. She was blessed with good friends and good neighbors. Her many nieces and nephews reported that she was the favorite. Ellie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was loved and she will be missed.

Ellie was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and James Hammer, husband, George R. Aiken, brother, Rev. James M. Hammer, sisters, Margaret G. McNeill and Elizabeth Swanson, and by her son, George Aiken.

She leaves behind a great legacy and is survived by her sons, Joseph Aiken (Marianne), Martin Aiken, and Peter Aiken, daughter, Marianne Bruner (Curt), daughter-in-law, Ellen Aiken, grandchildren, Jennifer (Peter), Brendon (Estee), Elise (John), Joseph (Alisha), Michael (Katherine), Christopher (Whitney), Kevin, Sarah, Nicholas (Amy), Kristin, and Liam, great-grandchildren, Kestrel, Cedar, Cole, Cash, Cruz, Cate, Smith, Sawyer, Odella, Edith, and Ilsa, and by numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass was held for Ellie on Monday, August 29, 2022 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Longmont.The family appreciates all those that were able to attend and who jointed them after the service for a Luncheon Buffet and a time of fellowship and remembrance at Ellie's house.
