Eric was born on December 12, 1973, in Queens, New York, growing up in a close-knit family with his sister, Jenny. They shared a childhood shaped by strong bonds, learning, and laughter that stayed with him throughout his life.
A lifelong learner with a natural gift for numbers and analysis, Eric excelled academically. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics, Economics, and Statistics from SUNY at Buffalo, followed by a Master of Arts in Finance from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the NYU Stern School of Business. Guided by dedication, intellect, and integrity, Eric built a fulfilling and successful career grounded in quiet excellence and professionalism.
Eric’s greatest joy was his two sons, Lucas and Ethan. He loved spending time baking and sharing everyday moments filled with laughter. He shared a special bond with Lucas through music, emerging technology, and Japanese anime. With Ethan, he delighted in modifying cars and enthusiastically exploring new foods. Eric’s patience, kindness, and playful spirit made him a devoted and deeply loved father.
Eric gave the best of himself to those he loved—sharing his dry humor, thoughtful insights, and generous heart. He will be remembered for his intelligence, warmth, and silliness, as well as the steady care and affection he showed to family and friends. Though deeply missed, Eric’s laughter, wisdom, and love remain present in every story shared, every smile remembered, and every moment of connection he inspired.
Eric is survived by his parents, Yancheng Lin and Shiuho Lin; his beloved sons, Lucas Lin and Ethan Lin; and is lovingly remembered by Shannon Lin Dennen and Lawrence Dennen. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jenny Lin.
